I’ve been watching a lot of shows lately.
I just finished watching all of Yellowstone over the last couple months.
It was one of the best shows I’ve seen in awhile. Every episode had me locked in, and each ending led me into wanting to watch the next one. It seems like the writers had that formula down pat. There really was never a dull moment.
My own life though?
I don’t want it to look anything like that.
I’d like to leave all the murder, back stabbing, affairs, financial ruin, and mind games to Hollywood.
My mentor used to tell me, “live the life that no one wants to watch”.
What does it actually take to do that?
You have to be really clear on what you want for yourself, and relentlessly prioritize that every single day.
That might mean some old relationships fade away, you have some difficult conversations with others, or you face all the ways you’ve chosen convenience over something you actually want.
Whatever it is, it’ll probably come with some discomfort.
If that’s a problem?
Then you’ll keep doing things the same way. If that includes a bunch of extra drama from the people around you, or some self-sabotage every time things really start going your way, then your life will keep feeling like a movie that people can’t stop watching.
One thing after another, never feeling sustained fun and ease throughout.
But hey, it doesn’t have to be like that.
