I hired a coach for hold’em.
It’s been a long time since I put sustained effort into my technical game.
Over the last few years I’ve mostly been focused on my own performance, coaching others in that, and growing the business side of things. When it came to poker, I mostly showed up and played whatever game variant I felt excited to play that day.
Lately it does feel like I’ve fallen behind the curve a little bit in hold’em.
Is that 100% true?
I have no idea.
But what I can say for sure is that I feel an excitement to study and play that I haven’t felt in awhile, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.
I don’t know what’s going to happen from here, but it feels amazing to be expanding in all areas at once.
That also doesn’t mean things feel hard.
There will be some new lines that I feel lost in.
There will probably be some bigger feelings when I try new things and they don’t work out the way I want.
There will be thoughts that I suck at this game.
I’ll often go to sleep at night with less money than I had when I woke up.
I’ll still take days off to rest and enjoy other things.
But when you can just accept all of those things as they happen, and all the feelings that come with them, none of it feels difficult. Just more things to feel, and propel me into the next cycle of doing things.
And don’t worry, I’ll let you know if I make any huge punts along the way.
If you want to get coached by someone who can punt but get over it really quickly, hit me up here:
